The Tweeds this Friday and Saturday!

This friday, June 19th is my mom's Birthday. It's also the date of The Tweeds' performance at The Rusty Nail in Havertown, PA. Other acts include Foul Language, Amanda Muller and Eclipse. It's an all ages show starting at 7:45 p.m. and there's a bar, too. ALSO The Tweeds are playing at Charm City Art Space in Baltimore, Maryland, around 8:00 p.m. with Bike Maker and Eat People.

That's two great shows this weekend. You should get to them.

The So Called Wavves Meltdown

Wavves who's bedroom recordings captivated the masses, had his first onstage massacre at the Primavera fest in Spain. I stumbled across this video of him getting fucked around by the monitors on the giant stage and looking out into the crowd getting kind of pissed. I hope Nathan recovers from this small lapse. I would not want to be in his position having so much come at you so quick. I hope the exploiters let the guy relax. Check the video of Wavves getting ready to start the show by making noise and not wanting to play his songs all the while the crowd gets restless at 2 a.m.

Tuesday May 12 @ North Star Bar: The Tweeds

The Tweeds are friends of mine from back in the day. At least Sam and Derek are, but the other guys are cool, too. Anyway, The Tweeds have a really sweet sound (think Ghosts and Vodka meets My Bloody Valentine) and they're playing North Star Bar and we're going. So if you read this, you know us and you should come.

Here's some stuff:

Fairless Hills, PA circa 2003

The post right before this one put me in the "high school local band" mode. Here's the reason I got into music.

Halway to Holland (members of Algernon Cadwallader, Like Lions, Peter and Craig, etc) - In Good Taste

Wichita, KS Circa 2004

So, I found this site that has a ton of videos from shows I went to in high school.

This one is particularly amazing.

We Watchey; Trailer Park Boys

Criminal Police

There isn't much to say about this show, except that if you haven't seen it watch it. Definitely for fans of shows such as Reno 911 and Arrested Development. This Canadian show had 7 seasons and is filled with millions of great skits. Watch a few episodes and wish you lived in a trailer park in the great north.

Here's a link to tons of episodes -----> HERE

We Likey #1; The Rest

The Rest

This band is from Canada. I'm sitting around waiting for July to see them cross the border and make musical love to my ears. Listen to this song off their new release, Everyone All At Once. So check out this wonderful song and wait around with my for The Rest to come down to NY.

Ghost Cult: Blaxsploitation Session

The Spook Who Sat By The Door

This is a movie...Herbie Hancock did the music. I love the soundtrack and had heard so much about this film, things like "this was banned in America", "one of the top blaxsploitation films ever". I heard these things and they were right. This film was banned and out of print in the US. People thought that the film would spurn blacks to revolt and kill white people. This point is so ironic because the film deals with a similar idea.

Synopsis: CIA wants to integrate to look good. Begin training black men. Wants them to fail and not succeed, only one does. He gets dicked around by the CIA for a few years and decides to leave. He returns to the mean streets of Chicago ready to start a revolution. Our protagonist organizes the local gang, teaches them CIA tactics, and begins plans to start a guerilla war against America. Then, white people get merked.

Classic Qualifier: This movie has a million classic lines, some of which you may recognize from several rap songs. Also, Herbie Hancock provides a tripped out soundtrack that ROCKS.

Ghost Friend <3 Sound

While sitting around watching the snow float to the group and faces of people bear the freezing temperatures gives me great reason to sit inside. It's around those times when people explore any attention grabbing activities they can find without going insane. Sometimes you lose it and create reality. Over here where in a 70's spy chase mood. So here is some 70's spy/action music from a group called Calibro 35 out of Milan, Italy. Utilize the winter to become a spy/gangster or neither.
